As I posted earlier, last night was the final of four nights of prayer at NMC. There is something extremely significant that happens when God's people take time to fall on their face in prayer.
Some impressions...
1. My small group (11th grade girls) decided to come together to experience the night. Our first stop was around the Grand Hall where are the flags surrounded the giant world map that was down on the floor. We stopped at a Psalm that was written out on a board & read it aloud over the map as a prayer. What an incredible prayer to hear pouring from the lips of 7 senior high girls.
2. While walking around to the different flags, I stopped near Kenya's. As I stood there, a mom and dad stopped with their four year old boy and began explaining to him about all the abandoned babies in Africa. Then, together as a family, they took time to pray.
3. There was a moment of the night where my small group was just lined across the balcony of the Grand Hall staring down over the map praying. As I stepped back and observed, I was blown away by the incredible God moment that was taking place.
4. Looking down over the map from the upper level was unbelievable as I watched people on their knees on all ends of the map laying hands on different countries and crying out to God. As I continued to let my eyes wonder all over that place, I saw families & individuals gathered around flags or standing with outstretched arms toward the map praying.
5. There's something powerful that happens when you hear others pray. An older couple standing next to the flag of Uganda took time to pray for war-torn nation that is hurting and desperate for change.
6. Praying for Amanda Wong. Though I don't personally know her, just knowing that she is stepping out in faith into an unreached nation and knowing that she is passionately following after Christ and going in obedience is something to get excited about & cover in prayer!
7. Francisco & Rosa Ramirez (partners in Juarez, Mexico). As a small group, we took time to pray with them & for them "Mexican style." Just an incredible moment of two cultures colliding and God being glorified.
8. "Our God Reigns." I heard this song faintly playing in the background as I stood by the India display praying for the believers who face intense persecution every single day. Homes and churches are burnt to the ground daily - many with people still in them. As I prayed and heard those lyrics, I pictured my brothers and sisters in India claiming that promise as they continue to take a stand for Jesus Christ.
9. God and Dairy Queen. After spending time at the church praying as a small group, we headed to DQ to simply hang out and talk about the night. Just being able to hear the hearts of these girls was really cool. They were moved, blown away, and burdened. God is up to some pretty incredible stuff in their lives.
