IMPACT Kenya
For those of you who don't know, we have an IMPACT Team (10 students, 4 leaders) that are currently serving in Kenya. Meeting with them before they headed out on Thursday morning, it was evident that this is a special team. It gets me excited for all that God is going to do & show them. (You can follow along with the team at www.derryprenkert.com)
Kenya holds a special place in my heart, so I couldn't be more excited that a student team is heading into a place that has captured my heart so deeply. The people, the culture, the scenery, the need...all of it is unlike anywhere I've ever been. Long flights, 7 hour time change, completely different culture...all of it I'm sure has the teams physical bodies, minds, & emotions in a tailspin. (Something to definitely come behind in prayer).
But this morning as I pray for the team & consider all that God may want to do both in them and through them, this passage of Scripture comes to mind:
"And as God's grace reaches more and more people, there will be a great thanksgiving and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed everyday. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!" -2 Corinthians 5:15
My prayer this morning is that God's love, grace, compassion, and truth will be taken to the least, the lost, and the lonely. My prayer is that even as this team is likely tired and fatigued (outwardly wasting away) that they would push through and give themselves fully to the work of the Lord. My prayer is that what takes place today and the next day and the next will BRING GOD GLORY and that this team will experience an outpouring of God's Spirit unlike anything they've seen before.
