Today was a Saturday spent at NMC listening to a simulcast of Beth Moore in her talk "So Long, Insecurity". It was a long day that just fit into a long weekend in general, but it was definitely good stuff that I needed to hear and be reminded of. Yet, ironically, her "talk" is not what stands out most in my mind as I leave.
During our time of worship heading into our second and final session, there was a song we sang that was unfamiliar to me. A song whose lyrics are a jumbled mess in my head as I process them. Before I give you my thoughts on it, here's the song that was sung...
Do It Lord
by: Travis Cottrell
I see your sons and daughters prophesying
Seeing visions, your old men dreaming dreams
I see Your glory covering the earth, Lord
Just as the waters are covering the sea
I see the blind gazing at Your beauty
I see the lame dancing strong and free
I see the millions coming to salvation
I see revival fire in the land
Do it Lord, do it Lord,
Do it Lord we are praying,
Do it Lord, do it that your glory may be seen
I see the lost and nameless ones remembered
I see the widows shouting out your praise
I see the friendless loved and celebrated
Orphans fulfilling, Lord, Your calling on their lives
I see forgiveness overtaking hatred
Pride and prejudice now giving way to love
I see depression replaced with joy and gladness
And Satan's lies now bowing to the Truth
Do it Lord, do it Lord,
Do it Lord we are praying,
Do it Lord, do it that your glory may be seen
This is our prayer O God
This is our desperate cry
In these days that we're living now
Let Your kingdom come let Your will be done
I see the brokenness of families brought to wholeness
I see the prodigals running home to You
Father's hearts now turning toward their children
And the children's hearts turning toward their father's
I see Your Church rising up in power
Laying down their lives in unity and love
I hear the sounds of every tribe and nation
Giving glory to Jesus Christ the Son
Do it Lord, do it Lord,
Do it Lord we are praying
Do it Lord, do it that Your glory may be seen
This is our prayer O God
This is our desperate cry
In these days that we're living now
Let Your kingdom come let Your will be done
Let Your kingdom come
Let Your will be done
Let it be on earth as it is in Heaven, amen
I remember back to every IMPACT trip I've ever been on as a student or leader and to every overseas trip I've ever personally taken, and I remember in my times of debriefing each trip writing out "I SEE" statements. I would write out things that I felt God was up to or wanted to be up to if I'd only have the courage to pray for it, anticipate it, be obedient in it.
What if these "I See" statements were what my prayer life looked like? What if instead of focusing on what seems important in my life, my own little circle, I took a giant step back to see the bigger picture? What if I daily asked and allowed God to put God-sized dreams on my heart and to pray the "impossible"?
I don't ever want to be so caught up in "my world" that I lose sight of what's happening all around me. I don't ever want to see things that break my heart and yet never take a step toward change. I don't ever want to take advantage of God's grace, God's blessing, and God's love. I don't ever want to expect, demand, or feel entitled to anything I currently have.
Today, I SEE God beginning a work in me that I don't want to stop. I SEE new perspective of who He is and who He has called me to be. I SEE the many blessings He has given me for exactly what they are...blessings! I SEE a God who calls me to a life that is not about me but that is all about Him.

Hi Kristy,
I was actually looking for the lyrics to that song because it also spoke to me today! I was at the Simulcast also, attending from Eau Claire, WI. What an awesome day and I know God is doing a work in me as well! Thanks for sharing your heart here-I was blessed to have stumbled upon it and read your thoughts for the day and how God is working in your life. May God give You His dreams and fulfill them in your life! Phil. 4:13...God bless!

Thank you Kristy! My daughter & I attended an LPM conference in Tampa last month and we LOVED this song when Travis sang it. My daughter's learning it on the guitar and when FINALLY finding your posted lyrics, I have to tell you that I love what you wrote and it is so inspiring! I SEE the Lord speaking the same things to so many........He is so awesome and present in our lives today!!
Thanks for sharing and God bless you!
I was just searching for the song today. I also heard it at a Beth Moore simulcast and it's been stuck in my head ever since. Glad I happened to stumble upon your blog!
