You're Not Alone

I've really come to enjoy Thursdays in the office. Why?
1. It means we've made it through typically the most hectic part of the week.
2. It's my "catch up" day when it comes to projects, big or small.
3. It's quiet...though I'm not always a fan of this.

Surprisingly enough, I draw strength in moments of silence and solitude. Now, my Thursdays are not completely void of noise, but they do provide me with a day mostly to myself. And though sometimes it can get a little lonely, I've come to appreciate the "silence."

Every once in a while, I turn on music for the first part of my Thursday in the office. Often in the busyness of Wednesday nights & Sunday mornings, I miss out or come in late to the worship through singing part of the service. And while I love doing what I do, it's refreshing for me to be able to be a part of the worship experience...so missing it definitely takes its toll.

So...it's Thursday and I decided to crank up the music to start off my morning. Today, one song in particular deeply moved me. I've heard it several times before but I feel like I really heard it for the first time today. The words spoke to my heart, and I find myself both encouraged and challenged.

You're Not Alone by Meredith Andrews
I search for love
When the night came and it closed in
I was alone
But you found me where I was hiding
And now I'll never ever be the same
It was the sweetest voice that called my name
Saying...

You're not alone
For I am here
Let me wipe away your every fear
My love I've never left your side
I have seen you through the darkest night
And I'm the One who's loved you all your life
All of your life

You cry yourself to sleep
Cause the hurt is real and the pain cuts deep
All hope seems lost
With heartache your closest friend
And everyone else long gone
You've had to face the music on your own
But there is a sweeter song, that calls you home
Saying...

You're not alone
For I am here
Let me wipe away your every tear
My love I've never left your side
I have seen you through the darkest nights
And I'm the One who's loved you all your life
All your life

Faithful and true...Forever
For my love will carry you...

You're not alone
For I...I am here
Let me wipe away your every fear
My love I've never left your side
I have seen you through the darkest night
Your darkest night
And I'm the One who's loved you all your life
All your life

It seems a bit ironic that as I find myself alone in the office, I'm reminded of just how much I'm not really alone. Everywhere I've been, am, & will be...God's there. In all my searching to make my life feel more complete through people & things, God's been there. He's bigger than all my fears, doubts, dreams, desires...everything.

As I listened to this song today, I'm reminded of God's promise in Jeremiah 29:13-14. And, find myself humbled by a God who loves me so much more than I deserve.
