Countdown to Vacation

Vacation (n) a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday

Vacation (n) freedom or release from duty, business, or activity

These past few weeks have been somewhat crazy...no, that might be a bit of an understatement. The schedule has been full of all kinds of events. I'm not proud of being busy...I don't necessarily enjoy it. I value times of rest, I'm just not so great at taking them as often as I should. So...in two days, the vacation officially starts!

What I'm looking forward to...
  • Camping (it's a family tradition that I always look forward to)
  • Hiking, canoeing, rafting
  • REST
  • Reading, playing games, laughing
  • REST
  • A time of renewing my heart and spirit as well...it's funny & sad that usually one of the first things to get pushed aside when life gets crazy is my relationship with Christ. So I'm looking forward to having some extended time alone with God.
  • Time away from the cell phone, computer, tv, etc.
  • REST
Yep...I'm pretty tired, drained, wiped out, & physically and emotionally spent. Not exactly how I imagined heading into vacation...but all the more reason why I'm convinced it's much needed time.

So, until June 19th...

I hope you get the rest that you need. You should read "The Rest of God" by Mark Buchanan sometime soon. I read a lot of books and this one has stuck out to me as really important.
