Headed to Thailand

No, I'm not headed to Thailand...well, at least not right now. But one of my best friends is!

My friend, Jayme, first went to Thailand with YWAM, I think it was about two years ago. Since that time, she's gone back twice on her own. This time...she's going for a year! Her philosophy..."I have a desire to go, which is more than a lot of people...so why wouldn't I take any opportunity I get?!"

Just one more reason why I'm convinced I have some of the coolest friends!

A few weeks ago she bought a one way ticket to Thailand with no real plan of when she'd return. She's accepted a position in one of the schools and will be teaching one full year. Then...who knows! Maybe she'll come home or maybe she'll try & renew her visa and stay! I'll miss her for sure...but I'm definitely praying that her time away is an opportunity to hear from God and get some clear direction for whatever may be next!

Her faithfulness to step out over the edge has spoken volumes to me as I continue to wrestle through what might be next for me. Saying goodbye to her, I couldn't help but be proud, thankful, anxious, unsettled, and restless. In one of our many conversations before she left I was reminded of the need to, "Trust the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Prvb 3:5-6).
