Today I watched The Polar Express for the very first time. I know, once again, I'm behind the times. The movie wasn't really all that great to me (sorry for those of you who are big fans). But out of the entire movie, there was one phrase that just jumped out at me...made by Santa Clause himself.
"The true spirit of Christmas is what's here inside of you."
Kind of a loaded statement if you think about it. Christmas has now become Happy Holidays, presents, Santa Clause, snow, traditions, Christmas trees, etc, etc. And we could argue & give our opinions on everything listed above...but how true is that statement? "The true spirit of Christmas is what's here inside of you."
Christmas is all about the One who not only came down to live among us, but who now lives in each of us who follow Him. Christ in you.
So as you put up your decorations, sing traditional Christmas carols, watch Christmas movies, spend time celebrating with family, give & receive gifts, or whatever else you do this time of year...remember that Christmas isn't about what's around us, it's about who's in us.
