Be Transformed...

"Only the teachable heart will embrace whatever truth is needed for the moment. If we are not teachable, there will be no transformation."

God taught me giant-sized lessons on what TRANSFORMATION really looks like this summer, just by seeing it in the lives of people I was able to meet.

1. Luis- a translator we worked with down in the Dominican Republic on IMPACT, who didn't have a personal relationship with Christ. But then during our 11 days there, something happened in his life...not anything that we did, but what God did. And by the time we said goodbye, Luis was a new person. And you could see it! His life brought new meaning to "if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation."

2. Sofia- her's was a different kind of transformation. She'd never experienced the kind of love that she received over the course of those 11 days & she was not the quiet, timid, even somewhat scared Sofia we first met upon our arrival. Suddenly, Sofia was full of life, making friends, playing with other kids for the first time (at 11 years old)! But something inside of her had clearly changed, and you could see it!

3. The students of the IMPACT 2006 Team- I've never gone on a mission trip as one of the leaders, but what a great experience & a great new perspective. There was definite change made in each individual that went down to the Dominican. But better than merely the changes that were made, were those individuals whose lives were actually transformed...made completely new because of the experience they had.

TRANSFORMATION works like that. More than just a change, it requires us to become something totally new. If we want to be transformed, it has to start with us emptying out all that we are & hold onto. If we're full of ourselves, then we have no room for God's transforming character to penetrate our lives & make us new...make us who He desires us to be.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy & pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be TRANSFORMED!"-Romans 12:1-2
