1. Taylor Lincoln begins her journey down to Mexico today, where she will be serving alongside several others in the DMT Program through Dayspring Outreach Ministries for 7 months! I'm praying that this will be an incredible experience for her & that she will be stretched out of her comfort zone, encouraged by those she encounters, & that she will serve and pour out love on the people of Mexico unconditionally!
2. Rwanda Exodus Conference. In 1994, a genocide took place in the war torn nation of Rwanda, when Hutu rebels rose up and began a massacre on the Tutsis. Hotel Rwanda depicts the story of a young Hutu man who was willing to do whatever it took to save as many as he could. On February 18, 2009, NMC Student Ministries is dedicating a night to raising financial support, awareness, & prayer support on a night they're calling Rwanda Night. The night will consist of several components: a bake sale, talent show, & silent auction. "The Exodus Conference will be pulling together Rwandan Evangelists and Church Planters, equipping them to go into unreached and/or hostile regions, and sending them out to start a disciple making movement. The hope and prayer is to bring life to a land that's recent history has been marked with death." I'm praying that this will be an incredible opportunity to partner with people halfway around the world and show them the love & hope found in Christ. Will you join me in praying for this night & this conference, and consider how you personally might get involved?
3. Keri Rohr and Kayla Courtney are two girls from NMC who have significant ties to Student Ministries. Keri's mom, Tonya, is a Senior High Small Group Leader, and their other daughter Katie is a part of our Junior High ministry. Keri is on the road to recovery from a cancerous tumor found at the stem of her brain. After several surgeries, she is finally heading home for a period of time before heading back to Indy for the start of her radiation treatments. God has been good, but there is still a long road ahead. Kayla is a sophomore in our Senior High ministry & her sister Becca is a senior. After being in a serious car accident, being flown down to Riley in Indy, & having multiple surgeries, Kayla is also faced with a long road to recovery ahead of her. You can follow along on both of their journeys by clicking on the links above. I'm praying for these two families, that they would find strength, rest, and peace. I'm praying for Keri & Kayla, that they will be encouraged and reminded that we serve an incredible God. And I'm praying for a full & healthy recovery for both girls!
4. President Elect Barack Obama will officially be sworn into office on January 20, 2009. I'm praying for him and his family. Praying that they will have wisdom in the decisions they'll be faced with; praying for their two little girls whose worlds have completely changed; praying for a marriage that will be strong, supportive, and continue to grow.
There's a lot going on & so many things that could be listed on this post. I'm reminded as we head into another year of the power of prayer. So...what are you praying for?
