Thoughts from Saturdawg

What is Saturdawg?
1. A word made up by Derry Prenkert.
2. A Saturday spent along with God.

It's amazing what can happen when we take the time to live Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God."

When it comes to spending a Time Alone With God, most of us would say we could use more time. We get so busy with life that when the schedule gets crowded or life gets a little crazy, the time that we give to God is usually the first thing to get short-changed. While spending time alone with Him each day is important, there's something incredibly refreshing, and I think, incredibly necessary about spending extended time alone with Him. So, Saturdawg provided me with an opportunity to do just that...to spend some extended time alone with my Savior.

If I had to describe the day in a few short words, I guess I would call it: Eye-opening, freeing and refreshing. The day included a lot of time spent in the Word. As I continued a study in the book of John, I had even more time to soak it all in and wrestle through the text. My morning also included a letter to my parents (something I hadn't come into the day planning to do). Let's just say, the letter was long overdue. My afternoon was spent in worship and prayer as I was reminded of the promises of God.

So that's the short version of the day.

Some major themes from my DAWG:
  • Trust in the LORD (Prvb 3:5-6)
  • Take Him at His Word
  • He has chosen me & can use me wherever I'm at & in whatever I'm doing
  • He's a lot BIGGER than I make Him out to be
  • I am not my own
  • I want to move and not be gripped by fear
  • The possibilities are endless!

More to come...
